Tanzania invites EU businesses, investment in mining, agriculture and digital technology sectors

THE HAGUE: TANZANIA has invited European Union (EU) businesses and investors to tap investment opportunities in mining, agriculture and the digital sector, with the government pledging to maintain a conducive environment for investment.

Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Prof Kitila Mkumbo, made the call while opening the EU-Tanzania Investment and Business Forum in The Hague, assuring European investors that there is no reason to hesitate on investment decisions given the government’s readiness to work with them.

Speaking earlier, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Minerals Msafiri Mbibo said mining remains a key area of cooperation between Tanzania and the EU, urging investors to move discussions and identify opportunities towards actual investments.

He further invited European investors to partner with Tanzania in geological exploration, resource assessment, technology development and responsible mineral production, saying accurate geological information was critical for sound investment decisions and sustainable mine development.

Tanzania Geological Survey (GST) Executive Director Engineer Ally Samaje said large areas of the country remains insufficiently explored, creating opportunities in high-resolution airborne geophysical surveys, geological, geochemical and geophysical studies, as well as strengthening laboratory capacity and geoscientific information systems.

Also, Mining Commission Commissioner Dr Theresia Numbi said European companies could invest through partnerships with Tanzanian firms in mineral production, equipment assembly and maintenance, engineering and professional services, while bringing technology, capital and expertise to critical minerals, processing and digital transformation.
