KAMPALA, UGANDA: TANZANIAN golfer Madina Iddi clinched her second international ladies’ title this year with a commanding performance at the UGC Ladies Open 2024 in Kampala, Uganda, over the weekend.
Competing at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club, Iddi secured a 5-stroke victory over her nearest competitor in the 54-hole tournament.
Starting the final day with a four-stroke lead over Uganda’s Peace Kabasweka, Iddi shot a 4-over 76 to finish with a total score of plus 14.
Despite a few bogeys throughout the round, Iddi demonstrated resilience with two birdies and nine pars, including six in the last seven holes.
Her performance followed a strong start, with rounds of 78 and 76 on the first two days that put her in a leading position.
This victory adds to Iddi’s successful year, having previously won the Zambia Ladies Open on June 30th.

Iddi shared with the ‘Daily News’ that the tournament also served as preparation for the upcoming Uganda Ladies Open at Entebbe Golf Club.
“It was a challenging event with top Ugandan players competing.
I used this opportunity for WAGR points and as a trial run before the Uganda Ladies Open.
I’m staying in Uganda to continue practicing daily after managing my online work,” she said.
In the final standings, Peace Kabasweka finished second with a score of plus 19 (80, 78, 77), while Maron Kyomugisha and Gloria Mbaguta tied for third with scores of plus 21.
