Tanzania facilitates 1,400 overseas jobs in three months

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzanian government has successfully facilitated more than 1,400 overseas employment opportunities for young people from November 2025 to date, as a result of strong diplomatic relations between Tanzania and foreign countries aimed at reducing youth unemployment.

Speaking at a farewell ceremony for 109 youths who secured jobs in Gulf countries, held in Dar es Salaam, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations), Deus Sangu, said the achievement reflects the implementation of President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s vision of expanding employment opportunities.

Minister Sangu stated that from November 2025 to January this year, the Government enabled 1,432 youths to work abroad, attributing the success to President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s efforts to strengthen diplomatic relations with other nations.

He added that another major achievement is the availability of 8,000 overseas job opportunities expected by the end of this year. Already, 500 motorcycle rider positions have been announced for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), with the recruitment interview process set to be completed in February this year.

Minister Sangu also mentioned a further opportunity of 50,000 jobs in Japan aimed at skills development for youths in the construction sector. Discussions are ongoing, and once finalized, youths across the country will be invited to apply.

He assured the 109 departing youths that the Government has arranged their employment contracts, security, and working conditions through Tanzanian embassies in host countries. He urged them to work professionally, with discipline, and to uphold Tanzanian values and culture.

Earlier, the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (Labour, Employment and Industrial Relations), Zuhura Yunus, said working abroad is a valuable opportunity. She noted that the farewell of the 109 youths is proof of the Government’s commitment to creating employment opportunities, particularly for youths and women.
