Tanzania expands Muhimbili Hospital with a 15-floor building

DAR ES SALAAM: MUHIMBILI National Hospital (MNH) has officially begun the construction of a new modern building with 11 to 15 floors worth 1.3 trillion to be built within five years..
Speaking to journalists today in Dar es Salaam, MNH Executive Director, Dr Delilah Kimambo, said the building will have modern equipment that will be purchased, and high-quality patient information systems will be installed
“We are starting to build a new Muhimbili.
The old buildings will be demolished, and new modern 11 to 15-storey buildings will be built. We are in the initial stage of finding a contractor to confirm the existing drawings. We will build new buildings, modern equipment will be purchased, and high-quality patient information systems will be installed,” Dr Kimambo stressed.

She said the hospital is offering a medical exemption to patients who have failed to pay medical expenses of 19bn/- per year, while emphasising that no corpse is being held back by claiming the relatives of the deceased for medical expenses.
“The government is still funding the medical expenses of its citizens on a large scale, and the citizens are contributing a small part, especially for organ transplants. We have organ transplant services, both real and artificial, if I say real, such as kidneys and artificial ones, such as transplanting assistive devices,” he explained.
Dr Kimambo said they have 95 per cent availability of all types of medicines, and all types of treatment are available, including the best diagnostic services, laboratories, diagnostic treatments, and internationally certified waves
“Our services are of the highest quality and are very expensive for those who cannot afford it. They follow the procedure of submitting a few documents and receive a waiver service. I urge them not to be afraid. There are some who receive bills and run to the media or elsewhere. We tell them that they can follow the procedure to be waived. So the citizens cooperate, and we provide our numbers so that we can solve the challenge quickly.
She added, “We are grateful that the government has introduced health insurance for all. I encourage them to join health insurance for all. The burden of treatment will be reduced.
