Tanzania enhances planning, budgeting processes for efficient implementation of the 2027/28–2029/30 budget

DODOMA: THE Tanzanian government is strengthening planning and budgeting processes to improve efficiency in the implementation and management of the 2027/28–2029/30 national budget.

Assistant Accountant General in the Ministry of Finance, Ayubu Banzi, made the statement Dodoma when opening a working session on the assessment of budget preparation and implementation for the second group of planning and budget specialists participating in the training noting that the initiative aims at gathering views from planning and budget experts that would help enhance budget implementation and oversight.

Mr Banzi stated that the views and recommendations generated during the session would also contribute to improving the government’s guidelines for the Preparation of Plans and Budget for the 2027/28–2029/30 financial period.

The meeting brought together planning and budget experts from ministries, independent departments, government agencies, regional secretariats and local government authorities.

Mr Banzi, who represented the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, Dr Natu El-Maamry Mwamba, said the session would also ensure that planning and budget specialists maintain the knowledge and skills required to effectively prepare, implement and oversee Government plans and budgets.

“Strengthening the capacity of the experts is essential to ensuring that government resources are planned and managed effectively to support the implementation of national development priorities,” he said.
