Tanzania, Egypt to strengthen cooperation in sports

TANZANIA and Egypt have agreed to strengthen relationships and cooperation in the sports sector by building sports infrastructures in the country.

Egypt has promised to build sports arenas in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma, and Arusha.

This was revealed by the Minister for Culture, Arts and Sports Mohamed Mchengerwa in a meeting that discussed various ways of strengthening sports ties between the Ministry and the Egyptian Ambassador to Tanzania, Mohamed Abulwafa,

“The Egyptian government has agreed to build the modern sports arenas in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Arusha at its own expense that will help in international competitions.

He also added that apart from building arenas, the Egyptian government has agreed to help Tanzania in the area of training football coaches and referees so that to have standards that meet the requirements of the World Football Federation (FIFA).

In addition, Mchengerwa said that the training of referees will help in sharpening their refereeing skills so as to reduce various complaints and continue to protect the regulations of football and ethics in anti-corruption areas while they are in the stadiums.

Mchengerwa said currently, both sides are going to immediately implement the agreement that was reached in September 2021 by the presidents of the both countries in the area of sports for the benefit of both parties.
