The AUABC is an autonomous organ of the African Union (AU), established under Article 22 of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption.

It is responsible for providing advisory services and overseeing the implementation of the 2003 AU Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption, which Tanzania has both signed and ratified.

The Advisory Board consists of 11 members, with two representatives from each region (East, West, North, South, and Central), while one additional slot rotates among the regions.

Members are elected by the Executive Council from a list of highly qualified experts of integrity, impartiality, and recognized competence in anti-corruption matters, as proposed by State Parties. Board members serve a two-year term, renewable only once.

This victory reinforces Tanzania’s commitment to the fight against corruption, both nationally and across the African continent.
