Tanzania, China firms seal trade cooperation deal

ZANZIBAR: THE Tanzania Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (TCCIA) and China’s Hanwei Group have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening business cooperation between the two countries.
Zanzibar’s Minister for Trade and Industry Omar Said Shaabani called on Monday during the event for practical steps to translate the longstanding partnership into concrete economic benefits.
“Platforms such as the TCCIA–Hanwei forum provide valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and the development of joint ventures between businesses from both countries,” the minister said in a statement.
The event was also accompanied by business-tobusiness (B2B) meetings between Tanzanian and Chinese entrepreneurs, focused on exploring investment and trade opportunities.

TCCIA Executive Director, Oscar Kissanga, who signed the MoU on behalf of the Chamber, described China as a key partner in Tanzania’s efforts to grow its industrial, technology and infrastructure sectors.
He encouraged local business owners to take advantage of such engagements to attract investment and build productive business partnerships that support the country’s economic goals.
The Hanwei Group is a Chinese enterprise with interests in infrastructure, energy and manufacturing.
