Tanzania cherishes the academic achievement of ts 23 students at AASTMT in Egypt

ALEXANDRIA: THE Minister for Transport Prof Makame Mbarawa has said Tanzania is proud of the reputation earned by 23 Tanzanian students studying at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT) in Egypt, citing their discipline and outstanding academic performance.

Prof Mbarawa made the remarks in Alexandria during an official visit to the institution, where he met the students pursuing studies in Marine Engineering, Nautical Studies, International Business and Maritime Transport Logistics.

Speaking to the students after receiving a progress report from the university management, Prof Mbarawa congratulated them and urged them to continue serving as good ambassadors of Tanzania.

AASTMT President Prof Ismail AbdelGhafar Farag, for his part, said he was pleased with the performance of the Tanzanian students, describing them as role models at the institution.

“These students are disciplined, work hard in their studies and respect all the university’s guidelines. That is why their academic results are consistently good. We commend them greatly,” the university president said.

One of the students, Ngudu Pasiano Nemes, who is studying Marine Engineering, said they were happy with the learning environment and the way they were treated by their lecturers, which he said had contributed to their academic success.

“We are treated well here and given adequate attention. The good environment and support from our lecturers are the secret behind our good results. We will continue studying hard so that we can return home and serve our country,” he said.

AASTMT is among the leading institutions globally in maritime-related studies, and the presence of Tanzanian students there is part of the Sixth-Phase Government’s strategy under President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan to develop skilled human resources.

The 23 students, together with two others bringing the total to 25, are all sponsored by the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA) on behalf of the government and have been offered permanent employment by TPA.
