Tanzania chairs African Wildlife Commission
ARUSHA: Tanzania has been chosen to host the office of the 24th Commission on Forests and Wildlife of Africa (AFWC24) for a two-year term, spanning from 2023 to 2025.
The East African Community (EAC) member state was selected to host the office of the 24th Commission on Forests and Wildlife of Africa (AFWC24) during a meeting in Arusha with Prof Dos Santos Silayo, the Commissioner for Conservation of the Tanzania Forestry Services Agency (TFS), chosen to lead the body.
Commenting on the matter, Prof Silayo promised that the commission will ensure that the country benefits since it will not make mistakes in this role.
“This hosting is very important for our nation, and we will not misuse this opportunity; we will make sure no opportunity passes us by,” he said.
Additionally, for the position of the First Vice-Chair, Tanzania is accompanied by Mali, while the Second Vice-Chair has been assumed by Malawi.
