Tanzania calls on AIIB to cement ties with its members in supporting infrastructure development

DOHA: THE Minister for Finance, Khamis Mussa Omar, has called on the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) to strengthen cooperation with its member countries to support infrastructure development that will accelerate economic growth and improve people’s livelihoods.
Ambassador Omar made the call while contributing to discussions at the 11th Annual Meeting of the AIIB Board of Governors, held in 2026 at the Sheraton Hotel in Doha, Qatar.
He emphasised the need for AIIB to become involved at an early stage in the identification and prioritisation of major national infrastructure projects in its member countries.
“AIIB should provide technical and financial support to ensure that projects are productive, meet technical standards and are ready for implementation, helping to bridge the infrastructure gap in member countries while taking into account differences in development levels across regions,” Mr Omar said.
