Tanzania boxing team in action at Zone 3 championship

NAIROBI: EIGHT Tanzanian boxers are scheduled to compete today at the Africa Boxing Championship – Zone 3, taking place at the Kasarani indoor arena in Nairobi, Kenya.
The competition, which brings together boxers from across the region, is part of the calendar leading up to larger continental and international events.
The Tanzanian team includes experienced and emerging fighters, with bouts set for both the afternoon and evening sessions.
Among those taking part is Kassim Mbundwike, who won bronze at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
He is due to face Manzongo Anderson of the Democratic Republic of Congo in the light middleweight division.
Other Tanzanian representatives in action today include George Mbonabucha, who will face Kumbo Mwinyi from Kenya B in the featherweight category and Ezra Paulo, who is matched against Washington Wandera of Kenya A in the lightweight division.

The early session will also feature Juma Athumani taking on Abednego Kyalo of Kenya in the light flyweight division.
Shafii Mbaraka is scheduled to meet Lendoye Arthur from Gabon in the welterweight category.
In the evening, Aziz Chala will meet Tulembekwa Zola from DR Congo in the flyweight division, while King Lucas will face Engo Mba Laurent from Gabon in the light welterweight category.
Emmanuel Augostino is set to compete against Abdoul Ringo of Uganda in the heavyweight division.
A total of 32 bouts are expected to take place today across both sessions, with fights beginning at 2:00 p.m. and continuing later in the evening.
