Tanzania awaits CHAN group draw on January 15th

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA is set to learn its group opponents for the 2024 CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) as the official draw will take place on January 15th, at 8:00 PM (EAT) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya.

Football fans in Tanzania and across Africa will be eagerly awaiting the draw, which will determine the matchups for the tournament scheduled to run from February 1st to February 28th, 2025.

CHAN is a special event, as it is reserved exclusively for African players competing in their domestic leagues.

The tournament will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania and it promises to showcase some of the continent’s finest football talents.

The 2024 CHAN will feature 18 qualified teams, including reigning champions Senegal, who are returning to defend their title after lifting the trophy in 2022.

Other prominent teams such as Morocco, Guinea and Nigeria will also compete, while emerging stars look to make their mark on the continental stage.

The competition has often served as a stepping stone for young talents, like Senegal’s Lamine Camara, who was recently named the 2024 CAF Young Player of the Year.

The participating teams for CHAN 2024 include: Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Congo, DR Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia, Angola and Madagascar.

With a thrilling month of football ahead, Tanzania will be excited to discover who they will face in the group stages.

The tournament will be played in some of East Africa’s most iconic stadiums, including Tanzania’s Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Uganda’s Namboole Stadium, and Kenya’s Nyayo National Stadium.
