Tanzania Athletics Federation unveils official election roadmap

MWANZA: THE Tanzania Athletics Federation (RT) has announced its official election calendar in preparation for its General Election, scheduled for next month in Mwanza.

The RT Election Committee chairperson, Leonard Thadeo, confirmed that the process for collecting and submitting nomination forms for various posts commenced in June and will conclude on the 18th of this month.

“After the nomination deadline, all applicants’ names will be made public. We will then conduct interviews for shortlisted candidates on July 20. Following this, the committee will verify, process and announce names of successful candidates,” Thadeo explained.

He added, “From August 2 to 8, there will be a room to receive objections and appeals before the final listing of candidates eligible to continue in the process. This period ensures that the electoral process remains transparent and fair.”

“From August 9 to 16, all approved candidates will have the opportunity to campaign freely. This phase will also allow us to finalise all election logistics to ensure a smooth voting process,” Thadeo noted. He said that only registered and active regional delegates will be eligible to vote during the election.

“The federation is collaborating closely with regional representatives to confirm voting rights and ensure that the election is credible and inclusive.” The posts contested include the president and vice president of the federation and the executive committee members. For the president and vice president, the nomination fee is 500,000/- each.
