Tanzania assumes chairmanship of the Regional Technical Advisory Committee
DODOMA: TANZANIA has assumed the chairmanship of the Regional Technical Advisory Committee on Labour Migration for East Africa from Uganda,in a move aimed at strenghening regional cooperation in managing migration in accordance with established laws and procedures
The handover ceremony was held in Dodoma and brought together Permanent Secretaries and technical experts from institutions responsible for labour and employment, immigration departments, foreign affairs ministries, the private sector and development partners.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office responsible for Labour, Employment and Relations, Mary Maganga, said Tanzania would build on the strong foundation established during Uganda’s chairmanship by further strengthening regional cooperation and policy dialogue on labour migration.
She said Tanzania would also continue to promote measures aimed at improving coordination of safe labour migration across East Africa and the Horn of Africa, while ensuring compliance with laws and procedures and safeguarding the interests of workers within the regional labour market.
