Tanzania announces strategies to empower youth’s participation decision-making processes

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Ministry of Health, through its Department of Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health, in collaboration with the Young and Alive Initiative (YAI) Network and other health sector stakeholders, is supporting efforts to empower young people to participate actively in discussions and decision-making processes concerning their health, well-being and development.

The initiative was highlighted on October 14, 2026, in Dar es Salaam during the Young and Alive Summit 2026, which brought together young people, government leaders and various stakeholders to discuss challenges facing youth, exchange experiences and develop strategies to improve access to accurate information and youth-friendly health services.

The summit is being held under the theme “Engage, Learn, Connect and Act,” which encourages young people to participate actively, acquire knowledge, build collaborative networks and take meaningful action to bring about positive social change.

The platform provides young people with an opportunity to share their views, propose solutions and work with the government and other stakeholders to improve services that respond to their needs, particularly in reproductive and gender-related health.
