Tanzania and Poland cherish their six-decade diplomatic and trade ties

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and Poland have agreed to deepen over six decades of bilateral relations by advancing economic diplomacy, with a strong focus on expanding trade, investment and social development for mutual benefit.
Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Dr Ngwaru Maghembe, made the remarks during celebrations marking the 235th anniversary of Constitution Day (Poland) held in Dar es Salaam.
Additionally, Dr Maghembe said the long-standing partnership between Tanzania and Poland should be further strengthened through increased trade and investment, knowledge exchange, improved healthcare services and stronger diplomatic ties to accelerate shared development.

He noted that in recent years, cooperation between the two countries has gained momentum, particularly in infrastructure development, citing the implementation of the Standard Gauge Railway (Tanzania) supported by Poland’s KUKE, which has enhanced transport efficiency and regional integration.

“Tanzania is continuing to implement economic reforms aimed at improving the business environment and attracting investment under the leadership of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, as part of the transition towards a trade- and investment-driven economy,” he said.
Acting Head of Mission at the Embassy of Poland, Sergiusz Wolski, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to remain a key development partner to Tanzania, particularly in infrastructure, industry, renewable energy and digital innovation.
Constitution Day (Poland) commemorates the adoption of Poland’s Constitution on May 3, 1791, a landmark moment symbolising the country’s foundations of freedom, rule of law and democratic governance.
