Tanzania and Angola renew their past bilateral ties during the 3rd session of JPC
ZANZIBAR: TANZANIA and Angola have stepped up efforts to deepen bilateral ties, with the two countries reviewing past commitments and charting new areas of cooperation during the Third Session of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC).
The two-day meeting, currently underway at the senior officials’ level, is assessing the implementation of resolutions reached during the 2024 JPC held in Zanzibar while formulating fresh strategies to strengthen cooperation for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Said Shaib Mussa, urged both sides to ensure that all agreements reached during the commission are fully implemented to deliver tangible results.

He made the remarks while closing the senior officials’ session, stressing that effective implementation of agreed resolutions is crucial to translating bilateral commitments into practical development outcomes.
Through the commission, Tanzania and Angola are expected to expand cooperation across a wide range of sectors, including diplomacy, defence and security, trade and investment, social development, health, education, science, technology and innovation.
The ministerial session of the Third JPC is scheduled for today, July 30, 2026, where ministers from both countries will consider the report presented by senior officials, endorse the commission’s resolutions and set the course for implementing newly identified areas of cooperation.
The Joint Permanent Commission serves as the principal bilateral mechanism for strengthening relations between Tanzania and Angola by reviewing progress and identifying new opportunities for partnership.
