Tanzania, Africa50 agree to expand access to dialysis services for treatment of kidney diseases

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and Africa50 have signed an agreement to expand access to dialysis services, a move expected to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and improve treatment for patients suffering from kidney diseases.

The agreement was signed today, August 5, 2026,  during the Africa50 Annual General Shareholders Meeting and the Africa Infrastructure Forum held in Dar es Salaam.

The signing was witnessed by senior government and Africa50 officials, with Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health, Dr Grace Magembe, signing on behalf of the Government of Tanzania, while Africa50 Principal Investment Fund Chief Executive Officer, Djalal Khimdjee, signed on behalf of the institution.

The partnership is expected to increase access to life-saving dialysis services across the country by expanding treatment capacity for patients with kidney-related illnesses.

It also aims to strengthen Tanzania’s healthcare system by enhancing the provision of specialised renal care and improving the availability of dialysis services to meet the growing demand.

The agreement forms part of broader efforts to mobilise strategic investment in the health sector through partnerships that support the delivery of quality and accessible healthcare services for Tanzanians.
