Tanzania affirms to deepen bilateral ties with US in key sectors as it marks its 250th Anniversary

DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA and the United States of America have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation in health, trade, investment, tourism and governance during celebrations marking the 250th Anniversary of American Independence held in Dar es Salaam.

The event brought together government leaders, diplomats, business representatives and development partners to commemorate a milestone in American history and reflect on the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Representing the Government of Tanzania, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in charge of East African Affairs, James Millya (MP), conveyed Her Excellency, President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan’s congratulations to the Government and people of the United States on the historic occasion.

Millya applauded the courage, sacrifice and determination of generations of Americans who shaped their nation’s history, drawing parallels with Tanzania’s own liberation journey. He emphasized that freedom, dignity and self-determination remain universal aspirations shared by all people.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted growing economic ties between the two countries, particularly in energy, mining and tourism, while welcoming further American investment in Tanzania.

On his side, the United States Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Andrew Lentz highlighted the shared history between Tanzania and the United States and expressed optimism for a renewed partnership built on mutual respect, democratic values, prosperity, security and opportunity.

He noted that as Tanzania advances its Vision 2050 aspirations, both countries have an opportunity to deepen cooperation and chart a shared future. He further underscored the importance of continued cooperation in health and development, describing the partnership as a force for prosperity and improved livelihoods.
