TANTRADE calls on investors to work closely with business firms in developing “Made in Tanzania” brand

DAR ES SALAAM: The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TANTRADE) has called on Tanzanians and investors to strengthen cooperation through business associations and chambers of commerce in order to add value to locally produced goods and promote them internationally, with the aim of accessing larger global markets.
The call was made by TANTRADE Director General Ephraim Mafuru while speaking at the 10th International Agricultural Exhibition in Africa, which is being held alongside the 3rd Africa Agriculture, Livestock and Poultry Exhibition. The exhibitions opened today, September 2, 2026, and are scheduled to conclude on September 3, 2026.
Mafuru said the exhibitions are aimed at bringing together businesses from Tanzania and other countries involved across the business value chain, providing them with opportunities to meet buyers, exchange experiences and learn how to tap into major international markets.
He said cooperation among businesses is essential to strengthening Tanzania’s capacity to produce competitive goods, add value and develop brands that can gain recognition in international markets under the “Made in Tanzania” identity.
“Our goal is to ensure that businesses use the opportunities provided by these exhibitions to meet buyers and learn how to access major markets around the world,” Mafuru said.
He added that TANTRADE expects the exhibitions to result in trade and investment agreements that will enable businesses to increase production, expand their markets and contribute to economic growth.

Mafuru said Tanzania has already made significant progress in international trade, but there remains substantial potential to increase the value of locally produced goods and boost export earnings.
“Today, we export goods worth more than 10bn US dollars. The vision is clear, and we believe we have the capacity to reach 20bn US dollars if we work together,” he said.
He said India’s experience demonstrates the importance of strengthening collaboration among producers, businesses and trade-support institutions to enhance the competitiveness of locally produced goods in international markets.
The exhibitions, organised by TANTRADE, have brought together more than 1,000 participants from 35 countries to showcase products, services and various opportunities available in the agriculture, livestock and poultry sectors.
The event is also providing businesses with opportunities to connect with domestic and international buyers, exchange knowledge, build commercial networks and explore potential trade and investment partnerships.
