TANZANIA Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (TCCIA) in Tanga , has urged local businesses and local government authorities to turn up in large numbers at the forthcoming Tanga Trade and Tourism Fair slated for May 28 this year.
“Tanga Region LGAs, in particular, must view this event as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to market what they can provide and attract investment in their respective areas instead of relying on investments from the central government” said TCCIA Regional Chairman Mr Rashid Mwanyoka.
“In recent years, there has been a dramatic increase in quality-based competition, as well as pressure to innovate, grow, and succeed in the global economy. Trade fairs provide an ideal platform for demonstrating innovation and confronting competition head-on,” Mr Mwanyoka said in an exclusive interview with Daily News about the forthcoming the 10th Trade and Tourism Fair.
He noted further that, trade fairs foster market transparency among competitors by providing participants and visitors with a comprehensive picture of the range of products and services on offer as well as market trends, assisting them in steering their businesses toward future success.
“Trade fairs are one of the most effective means of business communication because exhibitors, both existing and potential customers, are clustered in one location for a period of time for a one-on-one meeting,” Mwanyoka said
According to the TCCIA Tanga Chairperson, one of the most common reasons for companies not participating in trade fairs is the presumed expense involved.
He said that some LGAs expect the cost of participation to be covered entirely or primarily by the Central Government.
“The LGAs should consider the trade fairs as an opportunity to showcase their investment opportunities available in their area, such as agriculture, agribusinesses, storage facilities, inland container terminals, and potential industrial zones, and so on,” Mwanyoka stated.
The 10th Tanga Trade and Tourism Fair is set to open on May 28 this year, according to TCCIA Tanga Executive Officer Charles Hoza, and preparations are well underway, with the majority of exhibitors accepting invitations to participate.
“We expect more companies to take part in this year’s event because it is an opportunity for them to introduce Tanga residents their new products” he added.
