TANFORD sets the Trade and Logistics platform to promote Tanzania globally

DUBAI: THE Tanzania Freight Forwarders Representation in Dubai (TANFORD) has organised a two-day forum scheduled to take place in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, aimed at promoting Tanzania in international markets and opening up business opportunities for Tanzanian traders.
Speaking to journalists, TANFORD Chairperson, Hussein Jamal, said the forum, dubbed the Tanzania Trade and Logistics Forum 2026, will be held on February 13 and 14 and will bring together various stakeholders from the trade and logistics sectors to unlock opportunities between Tanzania and Dubai.
“We have organised this forum to promote our country internationally and position Tanzania as a hub for trade and logistics in East and Central Africa, while also enhancing the utilisation of Tanzania’s ports and transport infrastructure by consolidating cargo from global markets through Tanzania,” Jamal said.
He added that the forum will help open up new market opportunities for Tanzanian products to access global markets by engaging with various buyers expected to attend the event.
“TANFORD serves as a commercial bridge between Tanzania and international markets, enabling many Tanzanians to identify various trade and logistics opportunities available in Dubai while also promoting their businesses there,” he explained.
The forum has been described as a major opportunity, with stakeholders invited to participate as it is expected to open doors for individuals, the nation, and companies engaged in logistics and transport business between Dubai and Tanzania.
Institutions participating in the forum include the Tanzania Ports Authority (TPA), Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), DP World, Tanzania Freight Forwarders Association (TAFFA), TanTrade, TATOA, Port Marine Clearing & Forwarding, Silent Ocean, Kilimanjaro Star Cargo, and the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF).

On her part, TanTrade Director General, Dr Latifa Mohammed Khamis, said participation in such forums is important as they help strengthen business relations between local and international traders.
“My advice to Tanzanian businesspeople is to attend this forum, as it will open opportunities to establish various partnerships with traders from different countries,” she said.
Meanwhile, the president of the Tanzania Freight Forwarders Association (TAFFA), Edwin Urio, said participating in the forum presents an opportunity for business growth, self-promotion, and contributing to national economic development.
“The logistics and transport sector was the leading contributor of foreign exchange earnings in the 2024/25 financial year, and it remains the backbone of any economy that is growing,” Urio said.
He also commended government institutions for coming together in an initiative that brings significant benefits to strengthening the country’s economy.
