TANESCO cites grid fault behind nationwide power outage

DODOMA: A FAULT in the National Grid system caused a widespread power outage across regions connected to the National Grid early yesterday, the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) has said.

The public utility issued the announcement on yesterday after power disruptions were reported in many parts of the country from around 2:36 am.

“The company stated that a team of experts is closely monitoring the situation to determine the exact cause of the fault and to ensure the swift restoration of electricity services,” read a statement issued by TANESCO’s Directorate of Communications and Customer Service in Dodoma.

The company also apologised for any inconvenience caused and urged members of the public to remain calm as efforts to restore electricity services continue.
