Yanga sign Chama

DAR ES SALAAM: YANGA have finalised the signing of former Simba midfielder Clatous Chama, marking a significant acquisition as he joins the defending champions on a one-year deal.

The official unveiling took place yesterday morning via the club’s social media platforms including Instagram, showing Chama signing his contract ahead of the upcoming season.

Chama, a Zambian midfielder, had been strongly linked with Yanga over the past two seasons without fruition, but this time, the deal has been successfully concluded.

His contract with Simba SC reportedly expired on June 30th, with both clubs mutually agreeing not to extend it further, facilitating his move to Yanga.

Having initially joined Simba in 2018 from Power Dynamos in Lusaka, Zambia, Chama extended his stay at the Reds in 2019 with a two-year deal until 2022.

He briefly departed in 2022 to join RS Berkane in Morocco on a three-year contract but returned to Simba shortly thereafter.

On behalf of Yanga fans, I am thrilled that we have secured a player with the vision and skill to enhance our performance, particularly in the CAF Champions League next season,” Kamwe stated.

Meanwhile, Simba’s counterpart, Ahmed Ally, assured fans of the club’s commitment to bringing in high-profiled players to sustain their competitive edge.

“We are currently restructuring our team, making changes by releasing some players and bringing in new ones. Simba fans can expect significant achievements next season as we continue to build a strong team capable of achieving success at the highest levels,” Ahmed remarked.

Regarding Chama’s departure, Ahmed noted that a suitable replacement has been identified and will be announced in due course.
