THE 2022 CRDB Taifa Cup gets underway today at Mkwakwani Stadium in Tanga with men and women national teams battling it out for top honour.
The teams in both men and women disciplines are drawn from Kigoma, Pemba, Kilimanjaro, Manyara, Unguja, Mwanza and Dar es Salaam.
Other regions include Iringa, Mara, Mbeya, Mtwara, Arusha, Shinyanga, Lindi and Tabora.
According to the organisers, everything is in place for the weeklong showdown to be staged.
The players will showcase their skills in scoring, dribbling and jumping for three points as well as rebounds.
CRDB Bank has for the three consecutive seasons been coming onboard as the official sponsors of the event.
The previous two editions were held in Dodoma, but this time, the organisers have decided to shift the venue with the aim of circulating it to other regions and create more love and passion to basketball lovers in upcountry.
The country’s governing basketball will use the event to select men and women’s national teams that will represent the county in various regional and international assignments.
