T20 World Cup: Tanzania see off Sierra Leone
TANZANIA made a flying start to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers with a huge nine wicket victory over Sierra Leone at Gahanga International oval in Kigali on Friday.
It was Harsheed “spider” Chouhans hat-trick that stole the show on the day and earned him a deservedly Man of the Match award.
That was a spectacular performance from Chouhans whose brilliance won him a standing ovation from fans and team mates.
The brave Tanzanians took their game seriously to spare no wickets as their opponents ended in 70 all out.
“We are happy with the victory and looking forward to another second win against Ghana.
The team’s captain, Abhik Patwa, lauded his team mates for a stellar performance.
“We played as a team and our ambition was to keep the ball rolling,” he was quoted as saying.
Under Kenyan World Cup experienced former player, Jimmy Kamande, the Tanzanians are set to demolish Ghana in yet another unpredictable match.
In today’s fixture, Sierra Leone are taking on Nigeria while Ghana play Mozambique.
Tanzania will host Ghana on December 4th before playing Mozambique on December 5th this year.
The fixture shows that the Tanzanian boys will confront Eswatini on December 6th before facing Gambia on the same day.
Other matches on their fixture will be against Nigeria and Cameroon on December 8th and 9th respectively.
Tanzania has regularly participated in the regional qualifiers, making a positive participation despite its failure to win the title.
The brave boys recently won the so-called Tanzania-Rwanda Bilateral Series as part of their build up ahead of the event in Kigali.
