MOROGORO: THE Swiss government through its Tanzanian embassy has injected 139m/- to facilitate Youth Sports festivals in five municipals of the Morogoro region.
The festivals, whose chief target is young women, aim to empower the youth with vocational training that will ensure them employment in the end.
The project officer from the Swiss Embassy, Rasheed Mbalamula told reporters during the launch of the festivals that five municipals out of nine existing in the Morogoro region, will benefit from the assistance.
The series of festivals, according to the manager officially start today and will climax with the final festival to be staged in Morogoro Municipality on December 3rd this year.
Mbalamula said the youth festivals are part of two major projects being executed in the Morogoro region funded by the Swiss government.
According to Mbalamula, the Swiss government through its Tanzanian embassy has funded two projects; Skills for Employment Tanzania(SET) which is being implemented by Swisscontact .
Another project is Opportunities for Skills Employment (OYE) which is being implemented as a development form from the Netherlands called SNV, also being funded by the Swiss Embassy.
He named the municipalities that implement the two projects as Malinyi, Mlimba, Mvomero, Gairo and Kilosa.
