Sweden lauds TANESCO’s innovative power projects

DAR ES SALAAM: THE Swedish Ambassador to Tanzania, Charlotta Macias, has praised the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO) for enhancing its power generation projects, noting that the improvements contribute significantly to reliable electricity access in the country.

The Swedish envoy made the remarks during an official visit to the Ubungo II Natural Gas Power Plant in Dar es Salaam, accompanied by her delegation, noting that her government will continue to deepen strategic cooperation with Tanzania, particularly in the energy sector.

According to the Ambassador, the strengthening of the power generation projects in the project has increased TANESCO’s capacity to provide reliable service to citizens, reducing power outages and stimulating economic growth.

Additionally, the Ambassador said that Sweden will continue to work closely with the Tanzania government and TANESCO in implementing power projects aimed at increasing generation capacity and strengthening infrastructure for the benefit of the people.

At the  Ubungo II Natural Gas Power Plant, the Ambassador had the opportunity to witness for herself the projects implemented through collaboration between TANESCO and Sweden’s Siemens Company.

Speaking on behalf of TANESCO’s Deputy Managing Director for Power Generation, the Director of Thermal and Gas Power Plants, Engineer Marco Zacharia, said that three generation units from Sweden, each with a capacity of 43 megawatts, are operating smoothly, contributing a total of 129 megawatts to the National Power Grid.
