Suzie’s beauty bug bites Arusha

Suzan Nangali is the most sought after lady in town.

At just 28, the graduate in Business Administration owns a make-up studio in Arusha.

It was never a mean feat for the mother of one.

Suzan discloses how she had to make do with a modest job just to make ends meet.

“I had to work just for twelve months and decided to quit later on,” she opens up.

She switched careers as she aspired to capitalize on her talent of a make-up artist.

It wasn’t a walk in park for Suzan though, as she had to endure her fair share of challenges before establishing herself in business and create her own brand.

Some of the hardships that Suzan had to grapple with include low demand of her products in the market.

“It is a bit discouraging bearing in mind that I had just quit my job,” she recalls.

But it was through the same challenges that saw perseverance creep in.

In 2017, she was able to establish her company named Cherry Suzie Makeup and Bridal Point.

The company, had at the time started as a single portfolio dealing as a beauty and cosmetic retailer.

The idea of expanding her scope dawned on her as she targeted a wide range of customers in the country’s northern tourism circuit.

She would start selling bridal dresses, suits for grooms and other accessories.

By last year, her company had grown in leaps and bounds.

“My sole focus was how to reach out more clients,” she says.

This would however prove to be an uphill climb for Suzan as she couldn’t match the demand, as she had few personnel to her name.

“I wasn’t ready to hire many people at that time, not aware of the demand,” she says.

She had to swallow her pride and recruited more staff where she now has 15 employees from the initial two.

The move also saw her extend Cherry Suzie Makeup and Bridal Point services to Kilimanjaro region towards the end of last year.

For her business to thrive, Suzan remained steadfast in developing and diversifying new products to cope with the needs and demands of the beauty world.

“I’m happy and proud of myself having able to accomplish my life goals and set a high standard for myself,” she explains.

As a big believer in hard work, Suzan has some kind words to fellow women.

“No matter where you might be in your career, there is always room for improvement” she counsels.
