Surprise acts, new signings await on Simba Day

DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA SC have officially set September 10th as the date for this year’s Simba Day, with the club promising a day of surprises, entertainment and a touch of international flair.

The club’s Communications Manager, Ahmed Ally, revealed this to the ‘Daily News’ in a phone interview that preparations for the annual event, which traditionally unveils the club’s new season squad and fosters fan engagement, have commenced.

Ally said: “Simba Day is always special, but this year we are planning something even bigger. Expect surprises. From high-energy entertainment to a thrilling match with a guest team, we are pulling out all the stops to make it memorable.”

He stated that the event will feature performances by both regular entertainers from previous years and a new batch of artists, with the club also planning to bring in a guest performer from outside Tanzania to add an international dimension to the celebrations.

“Yes, we will have some of the familiar faces that fans love, but we are also introducing fresh talent. And yes, we will have a guest artist from beyond our borders.

“We are keeping the names under wraps for now, but fans won’t be disappointed,” he said.

The manager added that the date – 10th September was carefully selected in coordination with the FIFA, CAF and TFF calendars considerations, ensuring the club’s schedule aligns with major football events, especially given the tight fixture list ahead.

“We have considered all the key calendars that are FIFA, CAF and TFF’s,” he stated.

The league season begins on September 11th and Simba will be taking part in the Community Shield, which runs from 11th to 14th September, alongside Young Africans, Azam and Singida Black Stars.

On the topic of player transfers, Ali hinted that fans should remain patient as the club prepares to announce more names before the month concludes.

“There’s more to come. We are finalising everything behind the scenes. Supporters should hold their breath a little longer. By the end of this month, more names will be public,” he said.

“We have targeted players with significant experience. We believe this new group will give everything to help Simba achieve great things this season,” he said
