Support teachers to improve education, parents told

ZANZIBAR: PARENTS and guardians in Mkoani District, Pemba have been encouraged to cooperate with teachers to improve academic performance and education provision among their children.

Speaking at a primary school at Kengeja in Pemba, Ms Maryam Said Khamis, an official of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi-Women wing (CCM- UWT) stressed the need to strengthen good collaboration between parents and teachers to enhance students’ understanding and performance.

“We need strong collaboration between teachers, parents, and the community, because it is important for the development of children in education,” said Maryam handing over a photocopier to the school management and urging them to use it to benefit the students.

She said that Zanzibar President, Dr Hussein Mwinyi and Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan are doing a great work to improving the learning and teaching environment by building new schools with modern equipment, employing new teachers and application of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Meanwhile the Zanzibar House of Representatives Committee for Overseeing National Leaders’ Offices, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of development projects in Pemba.

Mr Machano Othman Said, the committee chairman called on regional and district leaders to ensure proper project management, particularly those directly benefiting citizens, to resolve unnecessary inconveniences.

During the review of reports for October to December 2024, the committee noted improved political stability and security in Pemba, which has enabled residents to focus on development activities peacefully.

“We need to maintain peace and stability as we prepare for the general elections. As political leaders, we should avoid use of inflammatory statements and instigating hate among our political followers,” Mr Machano emphasized.
