State rescues higher education students who missed loans

President Samia Suluhu Hassan directed 28,000 students, who missed loans to finance their studies in various higher learning institutions in academic year 2022/23, to proceed with registration under Ministry of Education’s guidance.

This was revealed by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa on Friday when he was winding up Parliament business in the country’s capital city.

The Premier admitted that the higher education student loans issues that were emotionally discussed by the lawmakers at the August House when the were deliberating on a motion centered on financing, planning, issuing and paying higher education loans.

“You will concur with me that the motion aimed at finding solutions for approximately 28,000 students who deserve get loans for academic year 2022/23 but no fund was allocated to them due to budget limitations.

“Honorable Speaker, the honorable President’s intention is to benefit all students deserve to get loans,” he said.

He assured: “In the budget mid-year review, we will request your Parliament to approve expenditures for the amount that will be needed,” he said.
