Preliminary preparations for the construction of a fishing port at Kilwa Kivinje in Lindi Region have started, Parliamentarians told in Dodoma on Friday.
The Deputy Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Abdallah Ulega added the project is expected to be accomplished within 24 months.
In his basic question, Kilwa South MP, Ally Kassinge, sought to know when the strategic project would take off.
According to the Deputy Minister, the Agreement for the execution of project involving the Ministry and M/S China Harbor Engineering Company was signed on June 7, 2022.
“Additionally, preliminary preparations for the construction of the port have started and construction is expected to be completed within 24 months,” Mr Ulega said.
