State lists 52 witnesses on Toddler killer suspects’ case
KAGERA: A total of 52 witnesses have been listed to testify for the prosecution in a murder case facing nine suspects charged with murder of a child with albinism identified as Asiimwe Novarth, who was aged two and half years.
Senior State Attorney Waziri Magumbo told the court on Friday that the committal proceedings on the Preliminary Inquiry Case No 17740/2024 have been completed.
He named the accused persons before the fully packed courtroom as Elpidius Rwegoshora (49), an Assistant Parish Priest at Bugandika Parish, in Missenyi district.
Others are Novarth Venant (24) a boda boda rider who is the father of the deceased child, Nurdin Ahmada (25), Ramadhan Celestine (23) both residents of Kamachumu village, Rwenyagira Alphonce (30), and Dastan Burchard (47) both residents of Bushagara village.
Others are Faswin Athumani (39), a witchdoctor resident of Nyakahama village, Gosbert Archard (35) and Desidery Everygist (53) both residents of Nyakahama village, in Muleba district.
Mr Magumbo told the court that on May 30th, this year the accused jointly murdered a child with albinism, identified as Asiimwe Novarth, who was aged two and half years.

“Your honour, the Committal proceedings on the Preliminary Inquiry Case No 17740/2024 facing the nine suspects have been completed. Six grounds, including the right for the murder case to be heard in camera, with the names and addresses of witnesses not to be exposed in public have already been submitted at the Bukoba High Court Registry,” he said.
However, the accused were not asked to enter pleas as the murder case will be tried and heard by the High Court.
Resident Magistrate Elipokea Yona adjourned the Inquiry Case No 17740/2024 and ordered the accused persons to be remanded in custody.
