State hailed for improved services at Hombolo Health Centre
DODOMA: IMPROVED infrastructure and an increase in medical equipment at Hombolo Health Centre in Dodoma City Council have significantly enhanced the quality and efficiency of healthcare services for the local community.
Speaking to journalists in Dodoma over the weekend, the Medical Officer in Charge, Dr Kitumba Monzali said that the government has prioritised access to quality healthcare, ensuring residents receive timely and safe services.
“With the increased supply of medicines and medical equipment, service delivery at our centre has greatly improved. Patients no longer have to travel to the Regional Referral Hospital or Benjamin Mkapa Zonal Referral Hospital in town for essential medicines and care,” Dr Monzali explained. He noted that, in the past, frequent drug shortages forced patients to seek treatment in town, which was both costly and time-consuming.
Dr Monzali also highlighted that the health centre is now equipped with a modern laboratory capable of conducting a wide range of diagnostic tests.
“We have advanced machines for hematology, tuberculosis diagnosis and modern radiology equipment. This means residents of Hombolo Bwawani and surrounding areas can now access quality diagnostic services closer to home,” he said.
The facility has also been strengthened with additional staff, increasing the number of healthcare workers to nine, which has helped reduce queues and waiting times.
“Service provision has improved, patients are more satisfied, and our community is benefiting from the government’s investment in healthcare,” Dr Monzali added.
Community Health Worker Mr Lazaro Ngobito praised the government’s efforts, noting that more residents are now seeking medical attention at the centre due to the enhanced services.

He further expressed gratitude to the government for reducing maternal and child mortality risks by addressing shortages of health workers and medical supplies.
