STAMICO scoops two awards at public sector meeting

National Mining Corporation (STAMICO) has garnered significant recognition at the Chief Executive Officers and Heads of Public Institutions Forum in Arusha.

The state owned enterprise secured the first place in the public institution category for its remarkable performance changes in this year, solidifying its position as a turnaround company in financial and operational performance.

Additionally, STAMICO was awarded second place in the Public Sector category for its outstanding dividend payment into the government general fund.

This remarkable feat was celebrated in Arusha during the session’s opening ceremony, in the presence of President Samia Suluhu Hassan who was chief guest.

STAMICO Director General, Dr Venance Mwasse said during the event last week that their success to determination and decisive action paid off.

He highlighted the corporation’s commitment to aligning their decisions with the government vision for public institutions to heightened productivity which at the end of the day and the removal the SOE from the dissolution list.

Dr Mwasse said the government directive to expand investments beyond the country’s borders motivated the corporation to pursue opportunities in other nations.

By diversifying their investments, STAMICO aims to generate additional revenue that will support the government in fulfilling its obligations.

Adding to their recent accolades, recently STAMICO was also honoured as the Africa Company of the Year Award (ACOYA) recipient for 2023 under the mining sector ticket.
