St Mary Goretti hosts free health check up in Moshi

  • Participants to also donate blood

THE management of the Moshi based St Mary Goreti secondary school in Kilimanjaro region, has organized a free health screening exercise as well as blood donation camp as part of the school’s ongoing 25th anniversary, since its establishment.

This was stated on Tuesday, by the Head of the school Sr Clementina Kachweka, whereby she said that the events apart from improving the health of people, it also aimed at supporting the government’s ongoing efforts meant to improve the health sector in the country.

“These two events will also go hand in hand with the registration of participants in the 5 km and 10 km races that are being organized to improve people’s health; this race will also be part of the school’s 25 years jubilee celebrations that we are continuing to observe”, she said.

“The ongoing events towards the celebrations, in one way or another also aims to give back to the community with which we have been working for all 25 years since the establishment of our school”, she added.

According to the school’s Head, the free health testing and blood donation events will be held on July 7, 2023, at the school’s grounds from 8;30am to 5pm, whereby she said that, people will be subject to screening on among others, non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, blood pressure, weight, eye screening, nutrition and personal hygiene the exercise which will be conducted by health professionals.

Sr Clementina went on to say that these events are part of others that will be followed the great synergy that is expected to take place on September 29, next year, the year in which the Jubilee celebrations will reach its peak.

She said, “The synergy will be held to raise funds which will be used to facilitate the renovation of various areas of our school which is expected to celebrate its 25th anniversary since it was established in 1999”.

According to her, St Mary Goreti secondary school has had a continuation of various social activities including the distribution of 2000 tree seedlings that have already been planted in various areas of the Kilimanjaro Region with the intention of restoring the natural vegetation and improve the environment.

She continued to say that, the planting of trees is a programme set up by the management of the school to support the government’s ongoing efforts meant to improve the environment in the country so as to curb climate change challenge, whereby she said in implementing the tree planting campaign, the school was collaborating with NMB bank .

She appealed to all other stakeholders, including parents and students, to support the Government’s efforts in planting plant trees due to the fact that trees were part of human life.

Activities leading to the St Mary Goretti’s 25th Jubilee are being coordinated by Executive Solutions Ltd, which is one of the leading Public Relations and Events management agencies in Tanzania.
