THE National Assembly Speaker, Dr. Tulia Ackson has dismissed claims that the parliament has passed a resolution allowing Tanzania and Dubai to establish an economic and social cooperation in developing port areas in the country.
Speaking on Thursday in Dodoma during an ongoing parliament session the lawyer and now full-time politician said the information spread by some mainstream and social media were false and against the laws set by the Parliament.
She said the ‘disputed’ resolution is under the joint committee that hasn’t finished its task. “This document will be tabled here on June 10, 2023 for debate and adoption.
“A call on journalists to adhere to ethics and ensure getting accurate information from relevant authorities to avoid creating chaos and inconvenience to the public,” she said.
The government had submitted a list of additional activities to be worked upon by the parliament during the ongoing budget session. Among those proposed activities was the resolution to ratify the agreement between the Tanzanian government and that of Dubai to establish economic and social cooperation in the development of port areas in Tanzania.
