Speak strongly against abortion, clerics urged
AN organisation which advocates for defense of right to life for every person-Prolife Tanzania, has called upon religious leaders to vehemently speak out against abortions, since the immoral acts deny rights to life to unborn children.
The call was made in Dar es Salaam over the weekend by the Chairperson of Prolife Tanzania, Mr Emil Hagamu, during the launch of local media practitioners’ network dedicated to defend rights to life dubbed Journalists for Life in Tanzania (JOLIFA).
“Religious leaders have a leading role to speak out against all immoral acts in our society including abortions,” Mr Hagamu, who is also the Director of Human Life International (HLI) for Anglophone countries, remarked.
He further pointed out that when immoral acts such as abortions continue to take place unabated, they eventually lead to other serious crimes such as homicide.
“Every society which tolerates wicked practices is doomed to fall into more serious violent and criminal acts to be committed,” he stressed.
Adding; “That is why nowadays you will hear of cases of husbands killings their wives, mothers killing their children and other people committing suicide, the source of all these dissolute acts start from the brutality of ending life through abortions.”
On the other hand, Mr Hagamu urged members of the media to work closely with the government and religious leaders in addressing vices which are being committed in the country.
Speaking during the occasion, the Coordinator of JOLIFA, Mr Gaudensi Hyera, mentioned some of the objectives of network as creating public awareness against all vices being committed in the society including murders and abortions.
“The network brings together media practitioners from various media houses across the country with a shared vision of combating all immoral acts through their work as journalists,” Mr Hyera explained.
Prolife Tanzania works together with HLI to defend the right to life for every person including the unborn children, the elderly and handicapped as well as defending natural marriage between a man and woman.
The two partner organizations also work to campaign against drug abuse and other vices such as homosexuality, lesbianism, child abuse, sexual harassment and violence.
