SOKOINE Stadium manager Modestus Mwaluka said the arena is now ready to host all Premier League matches after the completion of renovation works.
Speaking with reporters in Mbeya on Tuesday , the manager said Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) barred the arena from hosting all league games and directed its management to conduct major renovation to suit the board’s recommendations. He said Sokoine Stadium will ready to host NBC Premier League on September 9th this year.
The notable matches to open the stadium include the Mbeya Derby between Mbeya City and Tanzania Prisons while on September 13th Mbeya City will host Azam at the venue.
On September 14th Tanzania Prisons will host Simba and later on September 28th Mbeya City will date with Simba at the venue.
“The renovation works didn’t give us any problem and the pitch is in immaculate shape. We have installed light in the dressing rooms and everything is perfect at the moment,” he said.
“Teams coming to play here will see big changes in the whole set up,” he added. He called on football stakeholders to maintain close cooperation and solidarity with the owners of the stadium to maintain the arena which is capable of hosting national and international level matches.
