Social services availability attracts more villagers to shift to Msomera
ARUSHA: PEOPLE living within Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) are increasingly demanding to voluntarily shift to Msomera Village in Tanga due to availability of necessary services and opportunities in the new locality.
From the beginning, the government has said the exercise is voluntary and procedures have been put in place.
Speaking to the journalists who visited the area this week, the residents said they are living in difficult conditions.
Sinyorita Emmanuel from Naiyobi Ward, said, there is no good roads and other services.
Jennifer Yuda, from Kapenjaro Village, made a call to the government to give them a second chance so that they can shift to Msomera.
“If we could have used this opportunity earlier, we could have been very far,” she said.
Moses Lenara, added that, the opportunity given to them is wonderful one and privilege for the people of Ngorongoro because besides being given free houses, farms and other services, they have been empowered to cope with development pace.
According to the government records, from June 16, 2022 to January 31, 2023, about 513 households with 3,010 people and 15, 310 cattle were moved from Ngorongoro to Msomera Village, located about 45 kilometres from Handeni township.
The government has provided them with important services such as access to education, water, good roads, health services, electricity, communications and houses among others.
