SLWPL: Simba Queens, Yanga Princess sparkle

SIMBA Queens, Yanga Princess and Fountain Gate Princess emerged heavy winners of the second round of Serengeti Lite Women’s Premier League (SLWPL) matches bagging maximum points in the process.

The league entered its second day on Wednesday where all ten teams battled for maximum points in  five different venues across the country, with the trio producing 4-0 winning margin apiece.

However, only Fountain Gate Princess have excelled to stamp two wins in a row as they first defeated Yanga Princess 1-0 before their recent 4-0 triumph over Amani Queens.

As such; they lead the table with six points from two outings as they intensify their battles to challenge for the title at the end of the season.

At Black Rhino Academy in Arusha, Simba Queens mercilessly defeated The Tigers Queens 4-0 to register their first win of the season thereby collecting maximum points.

Likewise, at Uhuru Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Yanga Princess saw off Mkwakwa Queens 4-0 also to stamp their first ever win of the campaign as the sprint towards the championship slowly escalated.

Up next, Yanga Princess face Simba Queens in a women’s derby match set to light up the SLWPL with both sides equalling on points after claiming three points apiece.

It will probably be the first game in charge for Yanga Princess newly signed Head Coach Sebastian Nkoma who replaced Edna Lema at the helm of the Jangwani ladies.

He, therefore, has a big task to ensure that his side do well in most of their games in order to stand a good chance of winning the championship at the end of the marathon.

Both Simba Queens and Yanga Princess suffered defeats in their opening clashes as the former went down 2-1 to JKT Queens while the latter succumbed to a 1-0 upset from Fountain Gate Princess.
