Singida RC orders Vision 2050 integration
SINGIDA: SINGIDA Regional Commissioner Halima Dendego has directed all government leaders and councillors in the region to integrate Vision 2050 into their daily operations as the country pursues its ambition of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy within the next 25 years.
Ms Dendego issued the directive while addressing a special meeting of the Ikungi District Council convened to respond to Controller and Auditor General (CAG) audit queries for the 2025/26 financial year.
She instructed local government leaders to make Vision 2050 a standing agenda item in all official meetings and to closely monitor implementation of development plans, revenue collection, debt repayment and the clearance of CAG audit queries within the first quarter of the 2026/27 financial year.
“Vision 2050 should not remain a document on the shelf. It must guide our budgets, development plans and day-to-day decisions,” Ms Dendego said.
Ms Dendego commended the council for collecting more than 103 per cent of its projected own-source revenue and for maintaining an unqualified audit opinion for 12 consecutive years.
Despite the achievement, she challenged leaders and government officials to use the strong performance as a springboard for identifying new revenue sources, accelerating implementation of Vision 2050 and increasing citizens’ average incomes through investment and efficient use of available resources.
“Good performance in revenue collection should motivate us to work even harder in creating new sources of income and improving the livelihoods of our people,” she said.
Ms Dendego urged leaders to study, understand and translate Vision 2050 into practical actions that would support economic transformation and inclusive growth.

She said improved public financial management, enhanced revenue collection and continued empowerment of women, youth and people with disabilities would play a key role in improving livelihoods and expanding economic opportunities.
The Regional Commissioner also warned that officials responsible for generating new audit queries would be held accountable.
“We cannot continue creating new audit queries every year. Accountability must begin with each leader taking responsibility for the resources entrusted to them,” she said.
She directed the Ikungi District Commissioner to ensure implementation of Vision 2050 and progress in clearing audit queries are formally reviewed every month.
Ikungi District Council Chairperson, Mr Ally Mwanga assured the meeting that councillors would implement all directives issued by the Regional Commissioner, including clearing outstanding audit queries, strengthening recovery of the mandatory 10 per cent loans issued to women, youth and people with disabilities, and enhancing accountability across all wards.
