Singida Black Stars, Ethiopia Coffee share spoils

DAR ES SALAAM: SINGIDA Black Stars (SBS) were held to a goalless draw by Ethiopia Coffee in a fiercely contested CE- CAFA Kagame Cup Group A clash at the Major General Isamuhyo Stadium in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

Both sides pressed hard for a breakthrough, creating several op- portunities, but neither managed to convert, leaving the spoils shared after 90 minutes.

The result leaves the two teams level on a point each, tied for sec- ond place in Group A.

Kenya Police FC lead the group after an emphatic 4–0 win over Djibouti’s GardeCôtes earlier in the day.

Erick Zakayo opened the scoring in the 19th minute before David Simiyu doubled the advantage in the 34th.

After the break, Baraka Badi struck in the 65th minute and Edward Omondi added the fourth just two minutes later to seal a dominant performance.

The victory puts Kenya Police in a strong position as they gear up for key fixtures against Singida Black Stars and Ethiopia Coffee, with an eye on securing a semifinal berth.

Action continues today in Group B, where Rwandan champions APR face Burundi’s Bumamuru at 1:00pm, followed by Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) taking on Zanzibar’s Mlandege at 4:00pm.

This year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup features 12 teams drawn into three groups of four, with the top sides battling for a place in the knockout stages.
