BIG changes in Simba squad are imminent after the Msimbazi Street giants roped in Mels Daalder as the team’s Head of Scout.
Simba’s bid for superior 2023/24 season makes the club embark on improving the technical bench by adding quality staff whose experience will impact the coming transfer window.
He was unveiled yesterday afternoon via the club’s Instagram page and is the first tactician to land at the Msimbazi street-based side.
The Dutchman is said to have worked with different clubs and participated in various scouting courses similar to world-class scouting experts, including Manchester United scout David Hobson.
Through their Media and Communication Manager, Ahmed Ally, Simba have vowed to reconstruct their team to make it competitive next term.
The decision comes after enduring an unfruitful 2022/23 season which has seen them sailing without bagging any trophy to cherish hence the driving force to upgrade their squad.
They are also setting up to represent the country in CAF Super League which has drawn eight teams from the continent and are eyeing to stamp success.
“We want to accomplish good signings to do well in the upcoming CAF Super League, of which we are the first team from Tanzania to compete in the contest.
“The only way we can achieve this is by improving the existing squad through signing new players and, simultaneously, releasing others not because they are not good players but rather to give space for the new blood,” Ally said.
He also assured the Simba fraternity that they hope to make changes directly impacting their next season’s performance.
He also insisted that the next season’s goal is sealing silverware same as they achieved in the past seasons.
However, with two games to go before the top-flight league ends, the Msimbazi Street Reds are already on the training ground aiming to stamp success in both assignments.
They will host Polisi Tanzania on June 6th this year before winding up the action-packed campaign by welcoming Coastal Union, with both games to stage in Dar es Salaam.
They will end the season with 73 points from 30 games if they win both duels.
