Simba’s election tribune named
SIMBA have picked January 29th next year as a date for the club’s general election, the club officials revealed on Saturday.
It will be the date of the Annual General Meeting (AGM) before the members engage in the voting exercise.
The club’s Election Committee Chairman, Boniface Lihamwike insisted that this time, they will strictly adhere to the club’s election guidelines unlike in the past elections when they used election guidelines from the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF).
The other election committee members, according to Lihamwike are Advocate Mwajuma Choggy (Vice Chairman), Richard Mwalibwa (Member), Gerald Mongela (Member) and Juma Simba (Member).
Meanwhile, Dar es Salaam football giants: Simba and Azam light up the 14th round of the Premier League by playing Polisi Tanzania and Coastal Union respectively in today’s two nerve-racking matches.
Simba are at Ushirika Stadium in Moshi taking on Polisi Tanzania in a game likely to be highly competitive since they seek solace to a 1-1 draw they stamped against Mbeya City at Sokoine Stadium.
The draw did not impress fans as it prevented them an opportunity to bag three points that could have rewarded the 30 points and the league’s pilot seat.
As such; a triumph in today’s encounter will help to restore pride at Msimbazi Street Reds to return them on the right track.
From 13 matches, Simba have collected 28 points after winning eight games, drawing four encounters and losing once in the process.
On the other hand, Polisi Tanzania urgently need maximum points to move up the ladder as things are not quite smooth for them at the relegation zone.
They have just managed two wins this season, three draws and nodding to eight defeats to collect 9 points after their 13 –game onslaught.
Polisi Tanzania seem to be lowly positioned this season.
In a late kick-off today, Azam are at their Chamazi Complex welcoming Coastal Union as the former seek to maintain winning streak ever since Kally Ongala took charge of the team as caretaker coach.
They are placed second on the table with 29 points and can hit 32 points if they overpower the Tanga-based giants who also target to accumulate vital points at the end of the game.
Azam’s previous game ended in their favour after defeating Namungo 1-0 at Majaliwa Complex in Ruangwa, Lindi while Coastal Union went down 2-1 to Ihefu.
From eleven matches, the Tanga giants have won three times, drawn three times while conceding five defeats to clinch 12 points.
