Simba’s display thrills Davids

TABORA: SIMBA head coach Fadlu Davids has expressed his satisfaction with the growing cohesion within his squad following their dominant 3-0 victory over Tabora United at Ali Hassan Mwinyi Stadium in Tabora.

Davids hailed his team’s mature performance, highlighting their control of the game and their ability to dictate play. “It was a very mature performance once again. We had a good first half, getting the first goal, getting the second goal and staying in control. I think that was the most important thing–ensuring the game didn’t turn into a transition battle,” Davids stated.

Despite the convincing win, Davids pointed out areas that needed improvement, particularly in the early minutes of the second half, where he felt his team was not at its best.

“Keeping control of the game, both when we have the ball and when we don’t, was important. I think we did that for 90 minutes, but the first 10 minutes of the second half was a phase we need to improve,” Davids explained.

He stressed the importance of squad rotation, especially with a busy fixture schedule ahead. He referenced their 6-0 win in the Federation Cup, where many players featured for the full 90 minutes before quickly shifting focus to subsequent matches.

“It was also important to keep the squad fresh because last week, some players played 90 minutes in the FA Cup. Now, we have Fountain Gate, followed by another game (Tanzania Prisons) immediately after. So, with a match every three or four days, we must utilise the entire squad. Like I said, every player can contribute,” Davids noted.

On the other side, Tabora United head coach, Anicet Makiadi, expressed disappointment in the refereeing decisions on their clash with Simba.

“I think it’s God who decided that we lose today; we had no choice. Our opponents studied us hard, and we kept retreating instead of advancing. Some refereeing decisions were questionable, but that’s football,” Makiadi remarked.

“We are number four in Africa, so we must ensure that everything is in order including refereeing,” he stressed. Further Makiadi vowed to regroup and ensure his side improves in the coming fixtures.

“I congratulate Simba, they deserved the win. From our side, we will keep pushing and working hard to do better next time,” he concluded.
