Simba upbeat to see off Raja

SIMBA Assistant Coach Juma Mgunda said they are set to engage Raja Casablanca with full force in order to wind up the group stage campaign on the gas pedal despite qualifying in the CAF Champions League’s quarterfinals,

The two teams which already won the last 8 tickets from group C meet this Saturday in Morocco for the last encounter as both target to clinch maximum points.

The Moroccan side is  yet to suffer a defeat in the contest after winning four of their five fixtures and stamping one draw in the process to claim 13 points.

On the other hand, the country’s envoys have 9 points from five games produced after succeeding in three fixtures and have since suffered  two defeats from Raja Casablanca and Horoya.

“We are ready to face them (Raja Casablanca) and the match is likely going to be difficult but as a team, we are focusing to record positive results from the tough game.

“Our Head Coach Roberto Oliveira has already indicated his determination to shine at the away venue even though we have already qualified into the quarterfinals.

“He (Oliveira) insists that we have to show our seriousness over Raja Casablanca because they are of the same caliber of a team we will play against in the quarterfinals hence, no need to embrace the encounter with ease attitude,” Mgunda said.

He added that they are aware that Raja Casablanca are targeting to finish the group stage mission without conceding defeat and that even Simba are eager to maintain a three-match winning spree.

They have since defeated Vipers 1-0 in both home and away games before pulverizing Horoya  with a 7-0 blitz making it so far the biggest win in the group stage of the Champions League.

However, a group of 13 Simba squad departed yesterday for Morocco ahead of Saturday’s match while other players who are still with the national team engaged in the AFCON mission will join their teammates in Morocco.

According to the club’s Media and Communication Manager Ahmed Ally, the team’s full-back Mohamed Hussein will not be part of the team to play Raja Casablanca as he is suspended after accumulating three yellow cards.

The other group C match brings Horoya against Vipers to just complete the fixture as they have no chance to step into the quarterfinals.
