Simba upbeat to punish Wydad

MOROCCO, Marrakech: SIMBA’S Head Coach, Abdelhak Benchikha has exuded unwaverin g confidence in his side despite admitting it will be a tough match against Wydad Casablanca at the Grand Stadium in Marrakech today.
The two will meet for a CAF Champions’ League Group B match, with both sides seeking their first group win. Both teams have played two matches, with Simba picking up two draws while Wydad losing in the same number of games.
Simba SC need a win to extend their chances, as they sit third with two points from two games.
Their opponents Wydad sit at the bottom without a point.
At the top of the group are ASEC Mimosas with four points tied with Jwaneng Galaxy.
“In this away match, our primary aim is to secure three points. I am well acquainted with our opponents; this isn’t the first time we have played against them. They have a strong team, but I believe we will beat them,” Benchikha said.
Simba’s midfielder, Fabrice Ngoma, expressed the team’s readiness and determination.
He asserted that it will be a tough encounter as the game lies not only in the quest for victory, but also in the potential advancement in the tournament standings.
“We are fully prepared for the game and all players are gearing up to give their best. It is an away game, and we have not secured maximum points yet. We are motivated and determined to win and secure our position in the quarters,” he said.
Simba flew to Marrakech, Morocco on Saturday.
Before today’s encounter, Simba drew 1-1 with ASEC Mimosas at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
In their second encounter they met with Jwaneng Galaxy, and the match ended goalless.
